    The sky is burning!
Wow, what an interesting couple of days. I'm glad I've got friends and family to stay with while San Diego burns. (our rental condo is smack dab in the middle of a mandatory evac area) Although, the giant tailgate party at Qualcomm Stadium does sound kind of fun....

Well we'll probably know by tomorrow morning if we get to go home. Or if we have a home.

    Stapler Fahrer Klaus
    Wow:

The Coolest Forklift Training Video EVER )

    Das ist Klaus...
Poor, sweet-looking Klaus is about to start his first day on the job. Evidently, it's Klaus' job to do everything wrong that is humanly possible. All I can say is, Wow. We need more training videos like this.

(Keep watching while Klaus drives around... it just keeps getting better. For those of you who are German-speaking, it might be even funnier; you'll have to tell me.)

    Vodka Drinking Instructions
For your edification, here's the 'proper' way to drink Vodka, Russian-style. (Pulled from a hiking listserver)

Drinking vodka Russian style, a short course:
    1) Take cap off bottle of vodka. Throw cap in
trash--you will not be needing it again. Drinking
    "stale" vodka leads to hangovers.
    2) Pour everyone a round, in glasses. Small shot
glasses are the normal, polite thing, if you're
willing to wait a few minutes to get drunk; use water
glasses if you're in a hurry.
    3) Propose a toast. (Note: The toast for the third
round of shots is always made "to the beauty of the
    women here tonight.")
    4) Everyone raise glasses and drain them to the bottom
in one gulp. You should throw the vodka towards the
back of your throat so you don't taste it.
    5) In your other hand, you should already be holding
the chasing food, normally a piece of kosher dill type
pickle, or maybe an orange slice, but sometimes a
piece of chocolate. As you can probably guess, men
tend to prefer the pickles, and women prefer the
    chocolate.
    6) Repeat until bottle is empty.
    7) Open another bottle. For planning purposes, buy a
half-liter bottle for every person expected at the
party. The children and women may not drink their
share, but the men will make up for it.

    Camera, where's my camera?
Saw on a box at the church today, where they were decorating for the imminent holiday...
Written under "Contents" on other boxes were "3 Shepherds", "Stars", etc, but I really wanted a picture of this one:

Wow, haven't been through old cd's in a while... ripping a bunch to my computer to keep me distracted. I hadn't realized how many I'd collected over the last, what, 17 years? Yow.

Hey, now why did I spend so much on all those concerts, anyway? Damn, now I have to remember what concerts I saw... potential embarrassment looming...

    Lessee...
    Love and Rockets
    Rush
    Midnight Oil
    INXS
    Oingo Boingo (twice)
    Depeche Mode (twice)
    10000 Maniacs
Grateful Dead (tagged along w/a friend in grad school. "Cultural experience")
Bruce Springsteen (someone I was traveling with in Stockholm wanted to get us into the concert. I didn't think she could. I was wrong. Ended up right next to the stage dodging sweat.)

Seems like there were more than that. I think Rush was by far the best.

Oh well, back to sorting, ripping, playing with CDs. Glad I found my old Tom Lehrer cd (check this out: http://www.privatehand.com/flash/elements.html )

But I think Dramarama has to go.

    Happy T'giving
Well, hello there, and welcome to Nikali's First Post.

DISCLAIMER: Being new and a virtual babe in the woods in the livejournal jungle, I am totally clueless. Now, this is a state that I am usually quite used to, HOWEVER, I am learning quickly that there are certain suggestions that one must take quite seriously around here. Like be nice on your journal, and especially NEVER leave yourself logged in on someone else's computer, no matter how much you love them or think they love you.

Having said that, if ever I write something repugnant, or offensive, or maybe verbally assualt you, I hereby assign all guilt to [info]gatcat and [info]kenket. And maybe [info]doggenius, while we're at it. Sheesh, you guys.

    But I love you anyway.

    Ahem.

OK, now that we've got that covered, HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Time to go cook the turkey.
